We are looking for an Infrastructure Team Lead to take ownership of the infrastructure and reliability foundation behind bama and help us build the next generation of our engineering organization
This is a hands on leadership role We are looking for someone who enjoys solving hard technical problems can go deep when needed and is equally comfortable thinking about architecture reliability automation security and people
What you ll do
Own the architecture evolution reliability and scalability of bama s infrastructure
Build and execute a clear infrastructure roadmap aligned with the needs of the engineering organization
Take ownership of infrastructure networking compute storage deployment systems observability and infrastructure automation
Establish strong Infrastructure as Code and automation practices and eliminate repetitive operational work
Design systems for high availability scalability resilience backup and disaster recovery
Improve production reliability through monitoring alerting incident management capacity planning and systematic root cause analysis
Work closely with software engineers to make application delivery faster safer and more reliable
Establish engineering standards around infrastructure deployment security access management and operational excellence
Own infrastructure security and work with relevant teams to identify and mitigate operational and security risks
Make pragmatic architecture and technology decisions balancing reliability performance engineering velocity and cost
Build a strong infrastructure organization define roles hire exceptional engineers mentor them and create an environment where they can do their best work
Introduce the processes and engineering practices required for the infrastructure team to scale without creating unnecessary bureaucracy
Be hands on when it matters investigate production issues review infrastructure code troubleshoot complex failures and build automation when necessary
What we re looking for
We are looking for an engineer who has grown beyond simply operating infrastructure and is ready to own and build an infrastructure organization
Strong technical experience in several of the following areas is expected
Linux systems and production environments
Cloud infrastructure and architecture
Networking load balancing DNS CDN firewalls and security fundamentals
Infrastructure as Code and configuration management
CI CD and modern software delivery practices
Observability monitoring logging tracing and alerting
High availability scalability fault tolerance backup and disaster recovery
Production troubleshooting and incident response
Infrastructure and application security
Database infrastructure and performance fundamentals
Cost and capacity management
Leadership ownership
You don t need to be a people manager who has stopped being technical
We are looking for someone who can
Take ambiguous problems and turn them into clear technical plans
Make decisions and take ownership of their consequences
Challenge existing assumptions and improve the way things are done
Communicate complex technical topics clearly with engineers and non engineers
Build trust with software data security and business teams
Hire and develop strong engineers
Set a high technical bar while remaining pragmatic
Build the team processes and culture almost from the ground up
Hands on mindset
This is not a purely managerial position
We expect you to remain technically involved
You should be comfortable opening a terminal reading infrastructure code debugging a production issue investigating a networking problem reviewing a deployment writing automation or designing an infrastructure improvement when necessary
We don t expect you to personally implement everything We do expect you to understand the systems deeply enough to make the right decisions and jump in when the situation requires it
Qualifications
7 years of relevant experience in Infrastructure DevOps SRE Platform Engineering or related fields
Significant experience operating production systems at scale
Proven experience designing and evolving infrastructure architecture
Experience leading engineers or owning a technical domain end to end
Strong Linux and networking fundamentals
Strong understanding of automation and Infrastructure as Code
Experience with production systems and modern infrastructure practices
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Engineering Computer Science Electrical Engineering or a related technical field is preferred
Graduates of strong engineering computer science programs are preferred but demonstrated technical depth and real world impact matter more than the name of the university
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
