The Cost Accountant is primarily responsible for supporting management and cost accounting activities within the manufacturing environment The role focuses on production costing inventory accounting and valuation cost analysis profitability analysis management reporting and preparation of financial statements
The position works closely with Production Warehouse Procurement and Finance to ensure accurate product costing inventory valuation cost allocation and reliable financial information for management decision making
bull Management amp Cost Accounting Perform management and cost accounting activities including product costing production cost calculation cost allocation and analysis of manufacturing expenses
bull Manufacturing Costing Calculate and analyze the cost of production including raw materials direct labor manufacturing overheads and other production related costs identify cost variances and support corrective actions
bull Profit amp Loss Analysis Prepare and analyze Profit amp Loss statements revenue cost of sales gross profit operating expenses and profitability by product or business segment
bull Inventory Accounting amp Valuation Manage accounting aspects of inventory including raw materials packaging materials work in progress and finished goods perform inventory valuation and ensure alignment between physical inventory warehouse records and accounting data
bull Warehouse amp Inventory Control Participate in inventory counts stock reconciliations inventory adjustments and analysis of inventory movements and variances in coordination with Warehouse and Operations teams
bull Inventory Pricing Perform and maintain appropriate inventory pricing and valuation based on approved costing methodologies and company accounting policies
bull Financial Statements amp Reporting Prepare and extract financial statements management reports cost reports inventory reports and other financial analyses required for management and corporate reporting
bull Budget amp Variance Analysis Support budgeting and forecasting activities and analyze actual results against budget standard cost and prior periods highlighting significant variances and their underlying drivers
bull General Accounting amp Closing Support month end and year end closing activities including accruals provisions inventory adjustments cost allocations reconciliations and other required accounting entries
bull ERP amp Data Integrity Ensure accurate and timely recording of accounting inventory and costing transactions in the ERP system and maintain the integrity of financial and operational data
Qualifications amp Skills
bull Education Bachelor rsquo s degree in Accounting Finance or a related field
bull Experience Minimum 3 ndash 5 years of relevant experience in management accounting cost accounting industrial accounting or manufacturing finance
bull ERP amp Excel Strong proficiency in ERP financial and inventory modules and advanced Microsoft Excel skills for costing reconciliation reporting and financial analysis
bull Financial Knowledge Strong understanding of Profit amp Loss Balance Sheet cost structures manufacturing overheads cost allocation and financial statements
